Read2Go not working since iOS 12 update

I am having an issue where the student launches the read2go app and it crashes. I have removed and reinstalled this app on the iPad and it works for a bit and then it starts crashing again. Is Read2go no longer supported? If so what are our other options for the students using iPads? We are running ios 12.1.4. I work in our technology department and manage the iPads via Filewave MDM.

Back to Basics - Best Way to Listen on iPhone?

No worries. Yes, that is correct. Members can log into a Bookshare compatible app such as Voice Dream Reader with their account credentials and this allows them to download through the app. The only slight difference with the Dolphin EasyReader app is that the user would need to create a Dolphin account but could also access it with a Google account.

And I apologize... again... I just want to make certain... if we download Voice Dream Reader... then does the Bookshare account "link" to it? So we access the downloads through that app? I'm not sure I'm asking this the right way, I'm sorry.

Back to Basics - Best Way to Listen on iPhone?

Yes all of our compatible apps have TTS (text-to-speech) capability built in and would allow the reader to see the words highlighted on the screen while the audio voice is reading them aloud.

So if you get one of the Apps, then do you download the book "through the app?" I am interested in an App where the book can be read along while the audio reads the book aloud.

Back to Basics - Best Way to Listen on iPhone?

Hi Cannon, All of our books have the option to download in MP3 audio format. There are also alternative options if you're interested in exploring compatible apps for the iOS platform.

  10. Hello. I am not the most technical minded person. We want to download the audio version of a book. We will listen to the book through an iPhone. Does the download automatically become part of iTunes? Or is there a better "platform" to use to listen to the book? I guess I should say, is it better to get an App on the iPhone and then download the book through the app? And if so, is this easy to set up? I guess primarily, the biggest concern is to be able to download the book and listen, but be able to rewind or fast forward, etc. I am going to assume that this very basic question is already answered somewhere, but I could not find it. If you could even post the link, I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise, if could help explain, I would love it. Thank you!
  11. I'm posting this here w the teachers cause I want to help the teachers that works w my kid to use bookshare as a tool for school in high school. My son is reading at 6th grade level in 9th grade. He wants to do a automotive votech type class next year I'm told is highly academic. He needs something to augment his reading for this class and other high school classes. How do u amazing teachers use this tool to augment education. We have never used this before.

    Using Bookshare through Capti (iOS)

Does this also apply to students using a Victor Reader Stream? The student is a member on the reading list, the reading list contains assigned books but there is not a "Reading List" that can be accessed on the Stream directly. The student needs to search and download individual titles that are on the reading list. Is this correct? Is this a feature that would be developed by Bookshare or an update from Humanware? This feature would be great! Thanks!

    monitor reading time?

Hi Garrett, Unfortunately no our reading tools don't quite yet offer this level of sophisticated information at this time. I know this element has been discussed in the past, I'll touch base with our product development and engineering team to see if this is something we might be able to possibly add in and make available for the overall reading experience.

    monitor reading time?

Is there a way or place to go in and check my son's account to see the amount of time he has read, or the current page he is on in his book? Thank you! (newbie!!)

The short answer is yes, Dolphin is available on laptops. Having said that though, Bookshare exclusively promotes access to a handful of app reading tool options for use with phone and tablets on the iOS and Android platforms. However, you can visit Dolphin's website for details regarding a 30-day trial of EasyReader for Windows or purchase it directly from them. In the off chance you're still looking for laptop access to other compatible reading tools with Bookshare (other than WebReader), I'd suggest this section of our Reading Tool Wizard tool to help determine the best option for your students.

is the Dolphin available for laptops? Our high schoolers are using only laptops.

Hi Lesley, Unfortunately, at this time that feature is not available. Beeline Reader is not a Bookshare app so I'm not sure if or when that feature would be added. The free app Dolphin EasyReader would be the best option for a bookmark feature. This is one of the more popular apps our members are using.

Is there a bookmark feature on the beeline reader? If not will there be one available in the future?

Using Open Lore / Book share

Quality should be the same no matter how you open the title. In the synopsis page of the book is the quality of the scan will be listed. Depending on the title itself it may or may not have images. When searching for titles in our library it will indicate if the title has images or just image descriptions.

The other day I had a student log in on an organizational account and try to access a book on his reading list, but it was only available to download. What was I doing wrong?

    Student Access

Hi Shannon, When the school adds a new student as an organizational member they have the option to create a username and password for the student to access their reading material in a shared Reading List. Public and Private schools can also update the username and password information for any existing organizational members which provides them access to Bookshare's Web Reader (aka as Read Now).
