    Picture Books

I have a 1st grader with low vision so she just needs large font BUT she wants to see the pictures. Can I somehow do that?

    No sound

Okay, so now I have it reading the first line or so, but then it stops once it hits a period. It won't read any further than the period. It doesn't matter what the voice is or what format I use.
  5. Hello. Can we add a parapro on the list to work with readers? If so, how? I think I can only add students.
  6. In several of the books my student or I have downloaded (me to Duxbury in .brf and student to BrailleNote/EasyReader), there are no titles for chapters, it just says IMAGE. Can we put the chapter titles throughout the book? So often the classroom teacher will ask the student to read chapters 1-5. And my student does not know where chapter 5 starts or ends.

    start stop option?

Bookshare Web Reader is a basic tool that always begins reading at the top of a page. To start reading from a different spot in a book, please scroll until that area is focused at the top of the screen and then press Play. For an alternate reading experience, you can try the Read&Write extension with Bookshare Web Reader. https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/readwrite-extension-google-chrome Alot of our members will also use Capti online for a nicer experiance. I can say our team is working on a major update to our free WebReader (ReadNow) that will be released in the near future.

    Invalid Bookshare credentials

Are you currently a Bookshare member or a sponsor on an Organizational account? I was not able to find an account for you under your first and last name as listed on your forum profile.

    No sound

I would first try and change the voice on the reader to see if that works for you. Another quick fix could be changing the display format under settings as well. I would recommend contacting our support team at 650-352-0198 so we can walk you through some fixes.

When students go to a book that has been assigned the web reader either only read the page number or just a short part of the first line. We cannot get it to read the entire page. What are we doing wrong? We are on chromebooks. Thank you

    Invalid Bookshare credentials

I can not download a book
  14. Hello. I am totally new to bookshare. I am trying to navigate my first book in Bookshare Reader using safari and voiceover on my MacBook running Big Sur. I am unable to get the shortcuts to work, such as 1 and 2 for next and previous, so that I have to keep going up and activating the buttons to do so. This is the case even if I instruct voiceover to ignore the next key press. Any suggestions?

    welcome message

Is there a standard "Welcome to Bookshare" message that teachers can send out to parents, instructing them that we made their student an account and how to log in? If not, does anyone have a template for such a message? Thank you, Charlie

    Read2Go app

The Read2Go app has not been updated by its developers in many years and has been removed from the Apple app store. There are two other apps available that we highly recommend to Bookshare members. The first is called Dolphin Easy Reader and you can learn more about it here: https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/reading-tools/dolphin-easyreader The second is called Voice Dream Reader and you can learn more about it here: https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/reading-tools/voicedreamreader

    start stop option?

Hi Nathan, I don't think there is a way to start in the middle of the page when using the voices on the Web Reader. My workaround is to have the students still select "read now" to open the book in the Bookshare Web Reader and then use the text-to-speech tools in the Read&Write for Google Chrome extension. (We have licenses of the premium version, but Text-to-speech tools are available in the FREE version!) The student can highlight the text and select the play icon or use "hover speech", which allows the student to put their cursor in the location that they would like to begin listening. However, we have found that hover speech can be a bit quirky on the Web Reader at times. Hope this helps!

    How to Pause Text

There doesn't seem a way to pause the text/begin where it left off. I'm using the default Bookshare reader too. Is there a pause button anywhere because if not, that would be extremely frustrating, especially when trying to take notes.

    start stop option?

We are using Chrome. We selected read now, book loaded but we can not get it to stop and start at selected spot. It begins at the top no mater what I try. I've scrolled to point I what to start and clicked read (it just goes to the top beginning). I have gone to table of context and chose chapter and then click read (it just goes to the top beginning). It does not let me a choose page - it is either the top (beginning) or the last end of book, Any suggestions?
  21. I am porting books to voice dream reader. I don’t know if it’s the formate of the book that’s causing me issues. I don’t have access to highlighting, note, bookmark, and other things. It’s very important to me that this is available. I am using this to prepare for college,
  22. Is it possible to pick up reading a book in the middle of a chapter or do my students always have to go back to the beginning of the chapter?

    Read2Go app

I am not able to locate this app in the apple itunes store, has it been deleted?
  24. Hello. I am new to Bookshare and have been assigned to read Chapter 5 of an assigned textbook. I can forward the text to Chapter 5 using the table of contents but when I start text to speech it always starts at the beginning. When I select an arrow to move to the next section it says it is at the end of the book. To me, this in and of itself is an accessibility challenge. I cannot be expected to read the entire text from the beginning each time I am given a chapter to read (I hope!). The text is Public Policy Writing that Matters by David Chrisinger. Any help is appreciated. (thanks)
