    Expiration on account

Hello Nikki, Bookshare is fully active all year long, and assigned books do not expire. If this student has an Individual Membership account, then the parent might be referring to the subscription renewal date. If the subscription on an account expires, then it does need to be renewed before the member can continue to access books. Please feel free to reach out to our customer support team for more information either by email at or by phone at 650-352-0198 option 1 for membership. Our normal hours are 9am to 5pm PST, Monday through Friday.

    Expiration on account

I just added a student and loaded them up with 5 books for the summer. I talked to the students mom and she said on her end his account and the books expire on May 26th and I just assigned them the first week of May. Does bookshare turn off or expire in summer? Do I need to do something to extend dates? And if it does go off, as long as it's downloaded will it still work?

    Activation ID

Hello Max, Unfortunately, the Activation ID cannot be added to an account after it has been created. The field for the Activation ID appears in the second question of the sign up process where it asks if the member is a student. The third radio button for the question says "I have an Activation ID." When you select that radio button, a field appears for you to input the Activation ID. If you wish the account you created for your son to be linked to an Organizational Account, you can ask a sponsor for that organization to link his existing Individual Membership Account to their organization using the email address associated with his account. You can also reach out to to request that the account you already created be deleted and then recreate it using the Activation ID.

    Activation ID

Hi! I was told to plug in the activation ID I was provided for my son when registering him online. But nowhere in the registration was there a place called "activation id," and I've searched the site front to back (I think) looking for it. I need this activation ID to be submitted because the commission for blind evidently already submitted his disability proof. Any thoughts? I currently have an individual account set up for him. Just want it to connect to that ID.

    Sponsor access to reading books

Hi, As a sponsor, we do not have the ability to open books. I will log in as the student to preview a book to make sure that the formatting, etc. will meet their needs. Michelle
  9. Hello, I have not been successful in being able to read the books I'm assigning to students, in order to preview them. Do sponsors have access to reading books on bookshare?

    Accessing Organization's Reading lists

Hello Mike, You can see any reading lists shared within your organization from your "my reading lists" page when signed into your sponsor account. On that page, there is a "subscribe" button next to the "create" button at the bottom of the list of reading lists that you have created. When you click that button, a pop up window will appear where you will see all reading lists that are available for you to subscribe to. If you wish to see only the reading lists created by other sponsors at your organization, you can use the drop down menu at the top of that pop up window that allows you to filter out all public lists. There is an instructional video that explains this in detail available on your "my reading lists" page as well. It is located on the left hand side of the page under the "learn more" heading.

    Log In Cards

Hello Shannon, Here is a link to the PDF version of some helpful cards that you can print to use to record student login information:
  12. Hello, The organization of which I'm a sponsor has content available in various reading lists -- how do I search reading lists by organization (if possible), and how do I receive permission to access the content? Is there a subscribe button I'm missing, or do I have to content the organization's administrator? Thanks, Mike

    Log In Cards

They are the log in cards that go home with students. I saw them in a tutorial under brochures, but can't locate them.

    Log In Cards

Hello Shannon I am not sure what you mean by log in tickets. If you are a sponsor on an org you will create usernames and passwords for the members you add to your account. To Add Members to your organizational membership, please do the following: 1. Log in to your account. 2. Go to the My Bookshare link 3. Select the Members link. If there is text above your roster about adding Members, use the link provided to download the Proof of Disability form for organizational memberships. If there is no text above your roster, use the buttons below your roster to add Members.

    Supporting Students During School Closures

The Internet Archive has created a National Emergency Library that includes more than a million volumes - Internet Archive books don't have the same uniform quality of Bookshare books - there are errors of formatting and scanning - but they are a valuable resource nonetheless and might prove useful.

Hello Linda, When you see the message that a sponsor's email is already in use, that means that the teacher in question either created an account on their own, or is already on someone else's account. You can either add them to your account using a different email, or you can ask them to contact Bookshare Customer Support to request they be removed from the account they are currently on. Once removed you will be able to add them to your account with the email that is currently in use. Our phones are open from 9am to 5pm PST, Monday through Friday: 650-352-0198 option 1 for membership Our email address:
