which program is recommended to use for an AAC user of PRC Accent with Unity language device?  Student is 8 years old and would need books read to him and if words can be highlighted it would be a bonus.

Thank you,

Melissa

Hi Isaiah,

We actually find the vast majority of these devices work great with our web reader, but there usually is a bit of setup that's required.  It should be running Microsoft Windows behind the scenes, so if you can access that on the device you can then install the Google Chrome web browser and access the Bookshare Web Reader from there.  If the student is using switches we recommend simply binding the switches to our hotkeys to start and stop reading, and if additional switches are available then additional functions can be added.  If the student is using eye gaze access technology then we usually find the buttons are large enough for them to access directly, but sometimes using the browser built in zoom function will help make that even easier.  If accessed through Google Chrome the device will have full text to speech and word highlighting included with the book.

We do have a listing of all shortcuts included here: https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/bookshare-web-reader-shortcuts
