Hi Teri,

Bookshare is regulated by copyright law, not educational law, so students with or without IEP or 504 may or may not automatically qualify for membership. Bookshare is subject to, and complies with, FERPA, and has the same legal obligation to protect student privacy as the schools and other educational institutions it serves. Bookshare stores its users' personal information securely, limits internal access to it, and does not share it with any other entity. Since there is less information submitted for organizational members we don't require parental consent for schools to add them as students, however it is required to create an Individual account for students who are considered minors: https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/why-do-i-need-provide-students-name-what-about-confidentiality
