How to handle citations?

My book has references with superscript numbers throughout the text. How do I handle this?

Also, at the end of the book, the citations for each chapter begin with number one. (Each chapter has a subsection in the references.) So, there are multiple "1" superscripts, multiple "2", and so on. By having multiple references with the same number will that cause an issue? And do I need to do anything special with the references?
