That is correct. All books in our Freely Available collection are without copyright restrictions and are therefore available to anyone regardless of whether they have a membership with Bookshare, or have a qualifying Print Disability.

Unfortunately, under current U.S. Copyright Law, Bookshare membership is only available to people who are certified by competent authorities as having qualifying reading barriers, such as blindness or low vision, learning disabilities, or physical disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to read standard print. (Learn more at https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/how-do-i-know-if-my-student-qualifies and https://www.bookshare.org/cms/bookshare-me/who-qualifies.) We encourage you to sign up all students who meet these criteria.

However, we have created a page that includes e-learning resources available from publishers and other vendors that can benefit a broader population: https://www.bookshare.org/cms/help-center/learning-center/learning-at-home
